Protection Levels

OVERVIEW

B4 protection

With Level B4 armour, you will have protection against almost all handguns such as 9mm, .40, .45 & .357 firearms.

This level of armour is sufficient to protect you from hijackings, smash and grab attempts, as well as from brick/rock throwing. The glass used also provides protection against fragmentation. Level B4 adds approximately 110-140 kg of additional weight because of the premium lightweight armouring materials we use.

This additional weight still remains under the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and has a very minimal effect on acceleration, handling and performance, leaving no need to upgrade the brakes and suspension. The turnaround time for a Level B4 build takes on average around six-eight weeks.

OVERVIEW

B6 protection

With Level B6 armour, you will have protection from just about any weapon like AK47s, R1 assault rifles and sniper rifles.

This level of protection will allow you to travel protected into hostile territories. Our Level B6 adds approximately 350-500 kg of additional weight because of the premium lightweight armouring materials we use.

This additional weight still remains under the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), leaving no need to replace any other mechanical components. The turnaround time for a Level B6 build takes on average around eight-ten weeks.

Our Protection & Quality Guaranteed

Protection Overview
Armoured Mobility is dedicated to providing our clients with the highest level of protection. Our armoured vehicles are built with the latest certified composite lightweight armour solutions. All of our work is done to international specifications and our protection levels and build quality passes the Armscor certification levels, (Armscor is the acquisition agency for the South African Department of Defence) ensuring that we meet the stringent requirements of armoured protection in the country.

From our skilled technicians and state-of-the-art armouring factory, through to key partnerships with international suppliers for material, we are not only dedicated to providing seamless armoured integration on our vehicle builds, but also focused on pushing the boundaries in armoured technology as we are continuously doing research and development to ensure we use the lightest and most durable ballistic materials in the country.

Our specialist technicians work hand in hand with our suppliers for every build ensuring that the build quality is second to none and that there is no compromise on protection. All Armoured Mobility vehicles go through stringent inspections before released from the factory. We do not compromise on our quality and are devoted to producing exceptional armoured vehicles and have thus committed to a 2-year warranty on Workmanship and a 3-year warranty on our Glass. Should a claim be made, the vehicle will go through an assessment process before the warranty work will be carried out.

MATERIALS

BALLISTIC MATERIALS
It’s the uncompromising goal of Armoured Mobility to convert our vehicles using the lightest possible methods while assuring the most protective structure outcome no matter what the client’s purpose is.

We make use of premium certified ballistic opaque materials throughout our Armoured vehicles. Our continuous in-house research and ballistic testing of materials ensure we are always offering the best protection to our clients who may come under an extreme line of fire.

KEVLAR
Kevlar is an organic lightweight fibre that delivers high tensile strength, durability and improved protection. This fibre is ultra-malleable and can be moulded seamlessly into every corner of the vehicle and when attached to ballistic steel or ceramic, it achieves a higher level of protection.

DYNEEMA
Dyneema is a lightweight composite ballistic material that is known to have one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any material worldwide. It is paired with other armour solutions to maintain the highest levels of protection.
BALLISTIC STEEL
Ballistic steel, or armour steel, is one of the most commonly used materials when armouring vehicles. This steel provides protection from incoming projectiles. We make use of certified lightweight ballistic steel, in conjunction with other composite ballistic material, to achieve some of the lightest armoured vehicles built.

BALLISTIC CERAMICS
Other materials used in vehicle armouring include Aluminium Carbide, Silicon Carbide and Boron Carbide which are all substantially lighter than steel and preferred for certain applications.

BALLISTIC GLASS
Ballistic / Bullet-resistant glass is one of the essential materials used in armouring. Shooters and other street criminals usually aim for the windows because of their ease of accessibility. Hence, ballistic glass is used all around the vehicle. Ballistic glass is made up of optically advanced and highly resistant materials that will stop most bullets.
